Clutter or Simplici-Tea by Jean Miller To simplify your belongings use the rules of economics, namely the rule of supply and demand. The less of one type of thing you have the more valuable that item is. The next time you have that feeling of lack in your life (that usually sends you rushing to the store to by a new outfit or shade of nail polish) instead of shopping...get rid of something. This will give more value to the items you do keep. Example, that tea pot collection that’s got out of hand...sort it into three groups:1. Not my cup of tea 2. Worth keeping, but not my flavor 3. Love, love, love it, it's perfect and delicious The first group of items that arent your cup of tea take to the charity drop off box. Go directly to the drop off site. Do not pass go. Do not leave in your trunk for three weeks only to bring back into your house later. Next the second group of items that aren't quite your flavor pack up and put into storage. You WILL find a more appropriate home for them later. That last group of items that you love, clean up and display with pride. Step back and enjoy your work and how well your collection looks now. I bet you will have the same joy as if you bought something and the feeling might last longer. Repeat with any area of your home until you are at complete peace in your new sanctuary that a home is supposed to be. And perhaps reward yourself with a cup of tea. Copyright 2007 Jean Millier |
